My Top 10 WordPress Must-Have Plugins

Today I want to share with you my Top 10 WordPress Plugins that are free for you to install and use on your WordPress powered blog.

There are tens of thousands of wordpress plugins available to you online. The ugly fact is too many of them are poorly coded, poorly maintained, and poorly documented

With that being said, you should test different plugins until you find one that suits you and what you want to accomplish with your blog.

Some plugins are used to analyze your visitors, some plugins are used to help with SEO (Search Engine Optimization), some plugins will backup your WordPress blog, some plugins will help with functionality of your blog and some plugins will help with social marketing.

Lets take at look at my Top 10 WordPress Plugins.  The list is in no specific order.

  1. All in One SEO
  2. Akismet
  3. Google XML Sitemap
  4. What Would Seth Godin Do
  5. CommentLuv
  6. SexyBookmarks
  7. Google Analyticator
  8. WordPress Database Backup
  9. WordPress Editorial Calendar
  10. WPtouch

I talk a little about each of these plugins in the above video.

More WordPress Plugins I’m Using

I thought I would share with you some of the new plugins I am trying out and get your thoughts about each one.

New WordPress Plugins I’ve Activated

1.  Post Teaser – Post Teaser generates a preview or “teaser” of a post for the main, archive and category pages, with a link underneath to go to the full post page. I have activated the features to generate a word count, image count, and an estimated reading time.

Do you think this is beneficial to you as you read my blog posts?

2. Sexy Bookmarks- This plugin offers the ability to pick and choose which social bookmarking sites to include in your social bookmarking menu. Simply put a tick under each of the icons representing the sites that you would like to show up in your menu.  You can now display/hide the Sexy Bookmarks menu on a post-by-post or page-by-page basis.

So what do you think of the Sexy Bookmarks plugin?

3. Twitter Tools-This plugin  allows you to integrate your WordPress blog and your Twitter account. It allows you to pull your tweets into your blog (as posts and digests) and create new tweets on blog posts and from within WordPress.  You can create a daily or weekly digest post of your tweets.  I am not currently using this feature.
