Your business is like a marathon not a sprint. You can’t work hard on building your business for just a few months, you have to continue to work on your business every day.
James over at InfoPreneur.net has written a great post and included a video about this very topic.
If You Slow Down, You Will Stop, Then Fail
You have to be consitent with your blogging. You can not post everyday for a couple of weeks then all of the sudden you do not write another post for a week. Your readers have come to expect you to post every day and if you are not they will start going elsewhere.

Don’t slow down! If you truly want to be successful you have to keep at it every day in some fashion or another. You have to give your readers a reason to come to your blog.

Sean Smith of Powerofmore.net thinks so and I tend to agree with him. Sean made a guest post of at DavidRisley.com.
Sean talks about how he went on a recent trip and the fact the he had several discussion with people and through those discussion they each wanted to do business with him. Sean soon realized that the questions he typically asks during his conversations with others created an infections environment where they become excited about what he had to offer them.
Sean says that the questions he asks are simple and nothing new but the key to a successful sale is in starting the conversation and treating it like a conversation rather than a sale. Sean even provides some of the typical questions he might ask during the course of his conversations.
Do you have a problem starting a conversation with complete strangers?

Setting goals without time limits is the easiest way to give yourself an out if you fail at building your online business.
The word goal is defined by Webster’s dictionary as “the result or achievement toward which effort is directed; aim; end.”
How do you know how to get somewhere without know where the end goal is. Think about using a map. You need to know where your destination is so you can determine your path of travel. That some process works for setting your goals.
In order to successfully build your online business, or any business for that matter, you need to set goals and more specifically you need to set goals with time limits.
Think about it for a minute, would you buy a car if the dealership told you they do not know when your car would be delivered? Imagine your dream and thinking to yourself “someday I might get their”. Those are not goals with time limits. You won’t get to where you are going without specific and timed goals.
If you are going to achieve success, you need to place a time limit on it. Having a time limit will force you to take action instead of laying around dreaming “someday I’ll be successful.”

I was reading an awesome blog post last week over at…
http://www.davidrisley.com
Please click on the link and check out what David has to say about why Blogs don’t make money, Businesses make money. David gets directly to the point on this subject.
You need to quit thinking that you can make a load of cash just from blogging. You make money off of a solid business model, which can include blogging
It is only when I learned to start thinking “if this is a business I really should have a marketing plan” that I started to make any real progress that resulted in money. A blog is nothing more than a platform to communicate thoughts and ideas
Remember, Blogs don’t make money, Businesses make money.
Master this concept and determine what your ACTUAL business is going to be, the sooner you’ll find yourself profiting by writing things on your blog.
