What Are Your Top 3 Ways to Promote Your Blog?
I like to keep things simple when it comes to blogging. To me blogging consists of 2 key elements. The first key element is writing great content and the second key element is promoting your blog.
Simple enough, wouldn’t you agree?
Yes, the concept is simple but yet at times we all get stuck on one of these and sometimes both of these.
Today, I want to look at promoting your blog.
What are My 3 most effective ways to promote your blog?
1. Blog Commenting- Blog commenting can be time consuming but is very effective. I have bookmarked about 20 top blogs in my niche which I try comment on each day. I also focus on blogs that have the CommentLuv plugin installed. I like blog commenting because it allows me to get to know the thoughts of the blogger as well as the other people that leave comments.
2. Forum Posting – Forum posting can also be time consuming. I have joined several forums that I tried to visit everyday and look for discussion that I can join in on and help with. I also use the forums to ask questions or start discussions and find out what others think.
3. Social Bookmarking- Social bookmarking is another technique I use to promote my blog. As a matter of fact, the majority of my visitors are currently coming from Reddit. I was surprised by this. I am currently only using about 15 different social bookmarking sites but I do plan to sign-up for more and start using SocialMarker to reach out to additional bookmarking sites.
Those are my current top 3 ways to promote my site.

I also like blog commenting but I will probably use twitter more when I grow my followers list. Right now it is too tiny.

Great post. I think commenting on related blogs is a good way to get a good bit of traffic. After all, you get a free backlink as well as targeted traffic.

I like working in forums. For me, there have been many people within forums that have helped me so I am trying to return the favor to other newbies.

For me, I really like article marketing. I also do blog commenting and do a little bit of forum posting.

Hey Rick, your blog commenting is obviously working, and the social bookmarking is definitely a good method to employ, but my tip in regards to forum marketing is this: do it to get post topics and link bait article ideas, not to promote your business. most IM forums are not the best place to promote an ‘internet marketing startup’ promotion.
Keep on keeping on Rick, it’s just starting to build momentum….and then the fun starts!

We are all given the impression that we have to spend lots of money to advertise our blogs. The truth is we can do it for very little. There are lots of ways to do this for free. With the current state of the economy, this is something that any business owner and blogger would like to take full advantage of.
