Do You Find Blogging Stressful?
How stressful do you find blogging?
It all depends on your reason for blogging. Many people find blogging relaxing and use blogging as an outlet. Others find blogging to be a chore.
First, what is stress. Let’s define stress based upon some symptoms. Some symptoms include: rapid heart rate, shortness of breath, high blood pressure, depression, and weight gain or loss.
Unfortunately, you can’t eliminate all stress from your life.
If blogging is causing you stress, here are 4 tips that can possibly help.
1. Put things into perspective. From time to time we all get negative comments about the content we have spent so much time creating for our readers. These negative comments can be emotionally upsetting and lead to stress. If you let these unpleasant comments get you down, you may begin to question why you are blogging. Don’t let this happen to you. Try removing yourself from your internet business from time to time during the day. Take at least 2 to 3 short 15 to 30 minute breaks each day. Plan your breaks throughout the day. You can even plan specific activities.
2. Treat blogging like a business. Sometimes you may feel the pressure to make money online, which in turn will cause stress in your life. Make sure that you are treating blogging as a business and not a hobby. Meaning you need to have a business plan and a marketing strategy. You need to set financial goals. These are what successful business do. How do you know where you are going or how to get there without a plan. Simply put, get control of your business! Stay focused on your goals.
3. Stay away from caffeine and sugar. I know that I have just offended the coffee drinkers and I am sorry. But caffeine and sugar only do more harm for those that are already stressed. Caffeine can actually create a manufactured stress response within your nervous system. I know that it may not be possible for you to quit cold turkey so at least limit the amount you consume each day.
4. Know when to walk away. I listed this one last because this should be your last resort. I try to be positive when I communicate with you but sometimes we all have to recognize when enough is enough. Maybe a blog is not working out the way you originally intended. If you are putting in a lot of time into your blog and are not yielding any results, maybe it’s time to move on. Don’t stop blogging, especially if you need the income. Maybe try another niche or market. Greater opportunities will open if you can take what you have learned, both good and bad, and apply them to your next blogging venture.
I’m sure you all agree that there are times when blogging can be very stressful. You can always plan when the stress strikes but you can prepare for how you will handle the stress. Follow these 4 tips and you will be prepare for those stressful times.
Do you get stressed blogging? If so, how do you deal with the stress of blogging? If not, how to you prevent your stress?

Hi Rick,
I can totally relate with this post. For me, I find blogging to be totally stressful. It could be because I’m new to blogging and not only the posting is stressful but also having to learn the technical details behind the blog itself at the same time is also putting pressure on me.
Hopefully I’ll get a little more tech savy and soon just be able to relax and post.
I love the slider of recent posts at the top of your blog. I’m really getting some good ideas of what a good blog should look like as I do this “Oil Rig Hopping”
Good luck to both of us

As for me, it depends. There are a certain reason to make blogging stressful for me and number one would be the topic. There are just some topics, which is not my field of interest that why creating an article out of nothing was truly hard. Also the time. Time has a great factor to make a situation become more tense. I hate deadlines, especially when I’m not fully prepared to face it.

You’re right on about some of the reasons that can cause stress. I think there are many others that agree 100% with you.

@Jeffrey Morgan,
Is it the blogging that is stressful or the need to make money or is to both?
I think the need to make money to replace the income, for the job I will be losing in September, is what is stressful now.
The lottery win would not only alleviate the blogging stress but also a whole lot more stresses that happen in life. Then again, I’ve read about the added stresses of winning the millions of dollars from the lottery.

Wonderful article. This will really help those bloggers who seem to have lost all hope in blogging. Many bloggers find blogging stressful because of various reasons. The few you have mentioned are very true but then I think that blogging needs a lot of patience if you want to succeed.
