6 Types of Blog Posts Which Seem to Get Traffic
What kind of posts should I write to get more traffic and links?
This is a question that many a bloggers have asked themselves. I want to answer this question for you by sharing 6 content methods that really seem to work on social media sites and can also generate lots of inbound links.
Can you figure out how to use these post types on your own blog?
1. List of tips. Quantifiable lists (like this post) of tips are very attractive to readers. This type of post is easy for your readers to read or scan to determine if they want to read the entire post. You see these types of posts alot. That’s because they work and work very well. If your list is good, people will spread the word and in turn you will get lots of traffic.
2. Q & A with high profile people in your niche. Interviews with well known people in your niche seem to traffic, links and comments. This is actually an easy method. All you need to do is write a list of questions and then approach those people in your niche and let them know what you would like to do. Statistics show that the success rates for getting interviews are pretty high.
3. Resource lists. A useful resource list should include two ingredients: time and a good eye for quality. If you post a good, useful resource list, many readers will bookmark the list and even vote for it through social media sites. A good resource list is an effective way to put a little spark in your traffic. Once you get that spark you need to keep posting great content to keep readers coming back.
4. Good Advice. A quality advice post needs to stick to one topic and provides in-depth info on that topic. To maximize this type of post, you need to provide advice people are really hungry for. Avoid oversaturated topics. A good way to find out what people are hungry for is to post a survey asking people what they are interested in learning or are having trouble doing.
5. Anything with a killer headline. When other bloggers link to you, it is usually done with just a single sentence. Bloggers do not want to spend too long explaining to their readers what you post is about. So, a killer headline usually will accomplish this. Also, you need to have great content along with that killer headline. As other bloggers blog about your post you will get lots of traffic from their readers.
6. Arguing a popular point of view. Be careful with this one. Depending on your niche, I would no go with overly divisive topics. People love to have their views affirmed. This type of post works good because those that agree with you will spread your links around and those that disagree with you might also spread your link around in dissent of your point of view. You need to know now that you may get slammed by people that disagree with you.
Have you had any success with any of these type of blog posts? Can you think of any other types of blog posts that seem to get lots of traffic?

I really like to use lists. Not only is it easier from my readers, it is also easier for me to write.
I also like that way that the lists look in the post. They really stand out.

@Eric Abramson,
Thanks for your comment. I agree that the lists make it easier for your readers.
The lists allow your reader to scan your post and see if it is really something they want to read.

I hadn’t even thought about doing a written Q&A. I have been afraid to do a video or audio Q&A because I really hate my voice.
Thanks for the post.

@Jasper,
Audio and video Q&A works really great these days but the written Q&A is the next best thing.
Don’t worry about your voice, just start making videos of your self speaking until you get more comfortable. You can do it.

Hi Rick, I agree with you, and point 5 is so true. In terms of lists of tips the headlines are also important above the paragraph to explain each tip as sometimes if people are in a hurry they will just read that one line.
Enjoy the journey.

@Mandy Allen,
I agree. I sometimes tend to skim the headlines, if any, before I dive in and read the entire post.
This is especially true if I am in a hurry.

What you put on your blog can determine the amount of traffic that you get in that particular blog. The first thing of course is to have a killer headline combined with an awesome post. Having interviews with high profile people is also a good idea as people tend to see that you are really serious with your blog. The point on good advice is also very good. If you give someone good advice he or she will definitely come back for more.
